Dear Fellow Donors,
As you are all now probably aware, Todd Nickerson, who acted as an agent of puellula.com during the Alice Day Charity Campaign, has unilaterally decided to dispense with the donated funds as he sees fit without any input from other donors or consideration of their wishes. His decision, which I opposed both publicly and privately, both saddens me and leaves me to blame in part for trusting him to carry out our actions as we saw fit, rather than taking our money and spending it as he sees fit. For my part in entrusting these funds to an agent who ultimately proved himself untrustworthy, I apologise to all of you. I originally selected Todd to act in this capacity because he had proven himself comptent and trustworthy in a similar capacity earlier in the year. I had no reason whatsoever to believe that this time, for reasons not entirely clear to me, he would violate our ficuciary trust and misappropriate these funds as he claims to be doing even as I write this letter. When Todd publicised his intention to dispense with the funds anonymously and without any accountability or transparency, I responded by saying that I opposed his plan. Not wishing to precipitate a round of public recriminations, I subsequently wrote him emails privately that conveyed my opposition in stronger language than I used publicly. I had hoped that by these efforts he could be convinced to consult with others before dispensing with the funds. Todd now claims that he never received these emails. Whilst I never received any bounce messages from his email provider, I cannot with any surety know if his statement is true or false. After he stated that my mails went unreceived, I made two more urgent posts on GirlChat as well as writing him an email to his new email address. As you have probably seen, his response to me was that his decision is a fait accompli and that nothing I say will change it. I truly regret that Todd did not see fit to at any point discuss his decision with me. Considering the fact that the charity campaign was my idea and that it was conducted under the auspices of my website, puellula.com, it would have seemed reasonable that he would have included me in his decision-making process. Whilst I do not fault Todd in any way for his change of heart regarding childlove and childlove advocacy, I find every fault in his decision to take funds donated by others and do with them as he sees fit without any form of accountability or transparency. His actions constitute theft of the property of others and are fully not in keeping with the honour with which he has conducted himself up until now. I do not hate Todd, but I deplore his actions. Once again, please accept my sincerest apologies for my hand in this unpleasantness. Whilst I am unable to restore the purloined funds to you, I hereby withdraw from any future efforts to raise funds until such time as I am able to make more adequate guarantees that the funds will be used as intended.
