Ok, so we have a situation of an oppressive majority spouting endless crap that has never been true but used to justify the oppression of people throughout history, and an active minority using the same tried and true (and factual) reasoning for ending oppression and casting down the chains of those who oppress. So, FANNINGfan, are you saying that the slave drivers and wife beaters were right and the freedom activists and women's rights activists were wrong? I suspect the answer is yes, though I don't expect an admission of such. I would expect to hear something more along the lines of "No, those people were bad and I'm nothing like them! This is a totally different situation and I'm doing it to PROTECT someone." Of course, it doesn't change the fact that those statements were used to support slavery and women's subservience, but hey.. what's a little disrespect and insulting of children really matter anyway, right? Hasn't seemed to bothered you to do it before, why should it now?
