...about many of these articles: the tone is just so dark and serious. They refer to our sexual "impulses" as if we're just bursting at the seams to go and forcibly molest the next child we see.

Pedophilia in and of itself is not a "problem".

It's just a thing that some people have. They like kids. Big deal.

Of course, real child abuse is a problem. But pedophilia doesn't have anything to do with real child abuse.

It's not "some pedos abuse children, some pedos don't". It's "bad people abuse children, some pedos are self-loathing, and some pedos are self-accepting."

I can only see one real problem connected to pedophilia, and that is that those who "struggle" with their "impulses" can't safely seek out a psychologist to help them deal with whatever mental baggage is making them feel that way.

But honestly... it's become my opinion nowadays that those who think they "suffer from" pedophilia simply need to learn how to accept themselves for who they are / learn how to be okay with expressing their pedosexuality and those pertaining aspects of their personality within the bounds of the law. Being a pedo in today's society isn't exactly an ideal situation, but it's really not shitty to the point where people need to feel miserable about it.

Which brings me back to the dark and serious tone of these articles... making us seem more like human beings and less like monsters is GREAT, but this notion that pedophiles "need help" really needs to be stomped out and replaced with the notion that we're just regular folks. Once we can get the latter through peoples' heads, we've already won half the battle.
