Pedophilia isn't what we suffer from, pedophilophobia is. Pedophilophobia is the burden imposed upon us. But it isn't inherent.

Meh, semantics. I think you're being extremely nitpicky. The bottom line is the same: we have suffered because we have these attractions. I think, Dante, that you are being unnecessarily nitpicky over a lot of Ethan's posts. I don't agree with everything he says or believes, but I do understand his rationale, and I appreciate the diversity he brings to this board, even if I sometimes poke fun at him.

I think something you have to remember is that you are lucky enough to also be attracted to adults. Even if you're not dating one at this time, you're still in a culture that reinforces the adult part of your orientation at every turn. That is an important distinction, even if it doesn't necessarily feel that way to you. I don't know if Ethan is attracted to adults, but anyway, for those of us attracted exclusively or almost exclusively to children, it gets to be a little tiresome sometimes. It's doubly so for me because I am 'out' so to speak. If I subscribed to the all-or-nothing moral viewpoint that you and others here have, I would never have gotten as far as I have. We have to compromise or we're never going to get anywhere. I don't like it, but it's the way it is.

If Ethan feels that pedophilia is a burden in itself in this society, I can't help but agree with him. The fact is, if I didn't have this orientation, I would not have suffered the problems that I've had because of it. That's a fact. So cut the guy a little bit of slack, will ya? You don't have to rip him a new asshole over every little fine point of disagreement.
