the US is WAY more religious than most countries in Europe. Yes the AOC is higher, but the general attitudes about sex and nudity is way more puritanical than in Europe, and a lot of the world.

There are probably some other major factors involved, but I would say this is one of the biggest factors. There also seems to be something about English speaking countries, founded largely by British culture, that is also worst about these things than the rest of Europe as well.

I guess I haven't thought a whole lot about it because even an AOC of 14 would only interest me 5% of the time anyway. Seven is heaven :)
