Anyone following this story?

About the man who could be put to death for raping a girl? I heard an intelligent thing said about it on the tube today. It was from a lawyer opposing the death penalty in this case. He basically said it was sending the wrong message by conveying a girl who's been raped was as good as dead. Clearly she's isn't, rape is abhorrent, but it isn't murder.

I like the quote at the end, though. It really speaks of something true in matters like these. Even the really bad ones. "I want it to stop, but I don't want him to die." To me that kinda says "This is really bad, and I want it to end now, but I love this person anyway." Just my opinion, I don't really know a whole lot about real abuse situations.
