That is the knee-jerk reaction, but it gets complicated.

Sure, he is going to sue for the damage to his property, but as to the damage to his reputation, with the attitude of society in the UK today, its a lose-lose situation.

If he sued them for (ianal) defamation of character or some such, the proceedings would be headline news in the local paper for days on end, thus ruining his "reputation" all over again.
