What the hell is wrong with Brits?

No, not all of them, mind you, or even most of them, but it seems like there are alot of assholes in England--roughly equivalent to the amount of assholes in Texas (which I consider the anus of the U.S. anyway.) The other forum I frequent [Debates Unlimited] is hosted in Britain and has alot of British members, and it seems like, of all the nationalities there (primarily the U.S., Australia, Canada and England, of course) the Brits are dicks far more often than any of the other nationality groups.

Also, going by the British judges or hosts on some of our popular TV shows ["America's Got Talent," "The Weakest Link," "American Idol," etc.], the Brits are always raging jerk-offs. The British member of "America's Got Talent" made a whole family of entertainers cry this weak by insulting them, including the youngest member (a boy of about 4 or 5.) And I recall reading something else on another forum where a British guy recalled an event he had witnessed that curdled my blood. He said he was at a comics store or somesuch and saw a young girl get caught by the owner for stealing.

The girl's mother was called and when she appeared, she punched the girl in the mouth right in front of everyone there, leaving her bloody and sobbing, much to the amusement of the person telling the story. To which all of the Brits on that forum (about 4 or 5) laughed and agreed that it was the right thing for the mom to bust the girl in the mouth. They commenced to bragging about beating the fuck out of their own kids, if they had any. Even if the story was exaggerated or made up, I can't understand how anyone could delight in this sort of thing.

I'm not trying to antagonize you--I genuinely would like to know why so many Brits have no concept of diplomacy (to say the least) or no sensitivity to others. Is this insecurity-about-their-masculinity bullshit, or are Brits raised generally to be nasty to one another?
