This story, sad as it is, is a good demonstration of how police and others jump to Amber-alert hype-driven conclusions and how hard reliable information is to come by in a case like this. For a while the police were apparently convinced she had accessed Internet chat rooms from library computers and that was what caused her abduction; they also circulated the description of a vehicle she was supposedly seen in the day of her abduction. Both premises seem at this point to be completely false: her body was found in an apartment just a few feet from where she lived, killed by someone she knew IRL.
