Is the American flag or the national anthem being shoved down our throats? That which is accepted is normalized. That which is the other is demonized and its mere existence means it's being shoved down our throats. Of course the other side plays these bullshit games, but one side is much more of a threat to my existence as a racial and sexual minority. Of course I'll side with one over the other, even if I recognize the shortcomings of everyone and everything.
