Norbert, [edit], you can rest assured that the majority of us DO believe that youths should be allowed the freedom to choose who they are intimate with, and this includes the support of full youth liberation. Many of us in the greater community feel the same way. Ignore the antis among us, they aren't worth the steam off your shit.
I agree with BB that many of us do not have a lot of money to throw around, contrary to what you seem to think. Speaking for myself, and possibly for many others, I'm not rich and I live paycheck-to-paycheck at times. There have been times that I have been able to give money to GC to help keep it operable, and when it's possible, I do so. But I cannot do so as often as I'd like. Perhaps you should solicit for writers, editors, artists, musicians, etc., among the BL and GL communities for help with your activism instead of always asking for just money. Don't expect money to the detriment of soliciting these other potentially invaluable contributions. Many of us are too scared to "come out" of the toybox to the extent that you have. Many in our community are parents, and they risk losing their kids in the same way Kevin Brown did if they "come out" as MAA's. In the U.S. and the U.K., where the pedo hysteria is way out of control, this is a likely possibility (I'm not sure how likely this is in Holland). Some of us are content merely to have a place to talk about our orientations and proclivities, but others of us are very interested in activism. We just don't have a lot of money to donate, and some of us lack a lot of time outside of job and families to give activism the attention it deserves. Personally, I'm totally down with contributing to the cause as a writer when I have the time. You have to understand that I don't have large amounts of money to contribute, but you shouldn't underestimate the other ways that people can contribute. My main point here is that many of us are broke, busy, and fearful, or a combination of the three. That is NOT the same as not wanting progress. Never doubt that the work you are doing is exceedingly important. You gained some considerable progress for all of us by successfully starting your political party. We need organizations like that, but I can assure you that right now no one in the U.S. or the U.K. has the balls to start an org like that. My advice is to find ways for people to donate money and time anonymously. This is not yet the time for many of us to come "out," because a lot of us fear that we have too much to lose. Try to acquire writers and artists of every stripe, who can contribue under pseudonyms if they wish (which is what we did for YANI during its brief but awesome existence). We're all really proud of you, Norbert, and we admire you immensely for the sacrifices you have made and the work you have done. It appears thankless now, but in the future it will bear enormous fruit for both the greater MAA community and the youth community alike. |
