thanks for your thoughts on that, Hadjuk - I think that there is something in what you suggest - after all prisoners and those convicted of criminal offenses have a higher propensity to left-handedness than the general population.
But I haven't looked in too much detail at the handedness question - I may get round to it, but my main gripe with Cantor is on the intelligence question. In a way I'm focusing on intelligence for two reasons - 1/ being 'accused' of left-handedness or shortness isn't that bad really, whereas being accused of low intelligence is 2/ there is a glaring flaw in Cantor's methodology in his intelligence study - so it's easy work attacking that study. I think Cantor is 'stigma blind' (in that, though he is keen to admit that non-offending paedophiles suffer from stigma, he doesn't seem to think offending paedophiles do - presumably he things 'stigma' is only stigma if it is 'undeserved'). I look forwards to publishing my critique of his 'intelligence' study, but it will be a while, since a lot of it depends on a detailed understanding of 'stigma' - so I want to write an essay on that subject before I publish the Cantor critique - and I'm in the thick of researching and studying the literature on Stigma in general, but also some papers on stigma and paedophilia - it's all very interesting and quite exciting! ![]() |
