But intelligence is an accusation I simply can't take seriously. Not just because I know (through the boards) many intelligent pedophiles. But there are many examples of highly brilliant people in any list of historical pedophiles. Even if there weren't 1- problems in the definition of intelligence, 2- cultural and social biases in the measurement of intelligence, 3- sampling bias in recruiting offenders, both because lower intelligence people should offend more, should get caught more, and should get a lower quality of defense, and 4- the lack of a mechanism to explain causation. This is an almost cartoon like accusation directed at the group which cannot defend itself. Even though the accusation is contradicted right away too by other popular conceptions about the pedophile, such as our famous manipulation abilities and the skilled way in which we infiltrate churches, schools and all sorts of child and youth activities, or families other than our own. All of that on a 70 points intelligence! (Of course, I know that Cantor has so far been silent about those other things, so he may not be inconsistent himself. But the aggregate opinion is.)
