No simple answers

There are too many things that could be called child porn to make any meaningful blanket statements about it. Some of it probably is created for money, though not on the scale frequently claimed. I suspect this would mostly be child modeling type stuff, just on the wrong side of law.

Then there are adults in sexual relationships with children--which no doubt range from loving to abusive--who as an afterthought make porn. Maybe for personal use, maybe to share, maybe to trade, maybe to sell.

And there's the increasing trend of minors making their own porn. Like the recent cellphone case.

Also nudist pictures and such that are only porn in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure I'm leaving plenty out.

But there's no way to know which category makes up the biggest volume of child porn out there.

As far as what the law should be, I am inclined to think possession, distribution and creation should all be legal, with two important caveats. Distribution would be legal, but SALE would not. And obviously creation still would be subject to other laws.
