We can't take credit on one hand for not being involved in 90% of all child molestations, and then on the other hand claim that all those people with a situational attraction to minors are actually "pedophiles".

I wouldn't actually argue this. I forget what the actual percentage of people occasionally attracted to minors is that that one study found (I believe it was around 30%), but the frequency of occasional attraction to children is evidence enough that this is something that should be discussed far more openly, instead of being treated as such a taboo.

The percentage of true pedophiles throughout the population is obviously much lower than 30%, although there are plenty of indications that it's not as rare as it's often considered to be.
