I meant sexual assault alone, obviously physical injuries sustained in the course of it can be horrible, and the sexuality-related anguish on top of them make it even worse. I thought it was pretty clear I meant sexual assault not resulting in physical injury (which is in theory possible) or basically, the mental trauma surrounding it which can vary a lot person to person, perp to perp, act to act, and even then mental trauma associated with non-sexual violent assaults can be similarly traumatic.
I would much rather be raped in a way that would only sustain very minor injuries like bruising (although with the way men tend to get raped that probably wouldn't be the case) than to have both my legs broken for life, for example. I suppose it's more of a personal opinion thing. The problem in comparing assaults is not all assaults are equal to each other, not sexual assaults to each other, so you can't really compare the two, but rather, physical injury versus feelings of violation. Both rape and assault involve mental trauma and fear. ![]() |
