I'm glad we at least have two votes for the idea that the supply of 8-year-olds available as sexual partners to pedophiles "come the revolution" may be sharply limited.

I've never claimed every girl in my AOA wants my [edit] on/in/at her [edit].

However, I do claim that some do, and that laws are overriding her valid decision.

Further, I do claim that even for the ones who don't, the laws keep me and other possibly positive and helping adults, pedo or not, from being in her life because of the risks of false incrimination. I do believe that is the responsible thing for the adult's safety - I just don't do it because I value civil disobedience above my safety.

Child choice in suicide and trust fund allocation won't pass.

For the former, see Belgium.

For the latter, see Dominique Moceanu.

As for traffic, I am sure if we treated the vehicular murder of children the way we treat Pedo Crimes, it would be close to zero. Mandatory 15y, mandatory lifetime registration, possibility of indefinite civil commitment - we need those for anyone who kills a child by running over them. And if I don't add castration it's because it is too controversial.

Though I can't help but think yours is a very parochial vision. You must live in some suburban utopia where children never see traffic and they only know cars from the inside. Even at 2yo, a child who has witnessed actual traffic knows better than approach the street. Cars are heavy, big, noisy creatures (well, not so much anymore now they're electric, is it that? You live in a zero emmissions city)? whose very sight is imposing to the child. Even if there is no phobic reaction, the child is smart enough to see it is something whose strength poses danger.

At that age I was fascinated by trains, and living near railway infrastructure I had a chance to witness them often. I never saw an accident. But the size, imposing sound and huge size were enough to make me very afraid of going anywhere actually near them. Eventually I both lost the fear, evaluated the danger more rationally, and knew the rules of caution necessary to be near trains. But I never had any impulse to go one inch from the tracks to see the train come more closely.

I remark the parochial because in the Third World it is common that combinations of more children outside (and I don't mean only street urchins or children working outside, but also many children with homes and families walking somewhere or hanging and playing outside,) less paved roads and less sidewalks, and laxer or less enforced traffic rules, put children and moving cars close to each other all the time. And even very small children know the caution needed and practice it, and don't wander into the middle of the road (and drivers too expect the presence of children and adjust accordingly). I have no idea what the stats are, but I can easily believe that less children are hurt or killed in those Third World streets than in the First World streets. When weighted by the number of children-hours on the street, the difference must be very large.

Of course, one of the marks of "civilization" is believing that your tribe's customs are universal laws of human nature.
