Belated thanks for the lovely post! :) I agree w/ you totally about society's misconceptions regarding pedophilia. I'm so SICK of hearing anti's in the media parrot that same, tired line of , "Children can't consent to sexual activity!" as if it were some sort of unquestionable, sacred and inscribed-in-stone truth. It is to the point now where even otherwise rational lay people will quote the same without question. I seriously fear that one day I will be in a situation where that statement (or something very similar) is spoken in a public setting and I will just 'go off' on the speaker. Not physically, but just verbally in a pent-up-emotions-being-released way: "How do you KNOW this alleged 'fact' ??! How many kids have you personally INTERVIEWED before you came to this dogmatic conclusion ?? How many BOOKS have you written about the subject ?? Hell, how many books have you even READ about pedophilia ?!? How much do you KNOW about social workers and the methods they use to extract information from alleged 'abuse' victims ???"
Well, you get the idea. I only hope that, one day, my moral outrage doesn't bring on a pedo version of the Stonewall riots. Then again..... ;)
