Agreed. I grew up in an Evangelical Christian community, with an over-watchful mother who made sure I understood that reputable girls were not at all interested in sex, and a father who made sure I understood that no girl would ever be interested in me anyhow - to the point that on occasions when a girl did show an interest in me, I could only presume that it was a cruel joke at my expense. That Christian community was also united in supporting the notion that girls are never interested in sex or in boys, and made sure I understood that even to be attracted to girls was a great sin and a great weakness.

I figured out I liked girls a little before I turned six. Growing up in that environment bordered on torture.
