IRC is not good anymore

As you said, IRC is old school, too outdated, most IRC rooms are moving to Matrix now, it is more secure and it has more features, but in any case, you still need somebody to own the IRC or Matrix server and moderate it, no problem is solved by using them, you still need to own the server.But more important, the proposal to have a single chat has not gained traction, and that is the first step there is no point in debating what should be used if an agreement on using a single chatroom is not reached first.
