This surprises me. While there are more countries south of us than Mexico, the Mexican girls I know couldn't even do sleepovers because of their cultural norms. (I'm assuming this prohibition was to protect female sexuality.)

Of course, the places that preach abstinence and sex only after marriage are the places where no sex education is given, so babies out of wedlock are abundant. I just never saw this attitude, at least in regards to females. Double standards for males (who can do no wrong in the eyes of Mexican parents) of course.
