I know many girls and they want "common" occupations: doctor, lawyer, beautician, cook, teacher. Even homemaker. The only one half interested in showbiz just wanted to be a singer and knows that dancing and acting comes with it but never really focused on that. I don't know if there are boy exhibitions (there are for adult guys) but even in boys I've seen from want to be a motorcycle mechanic to want to be a professional athlete. The only one half interested in showbiz is fine with being in a garage type band, that is, more of a hobby if one he'd devote time and discipline to, than his main occupation.
There are instances of children being forced in many different situations, or of parents being too pushy in stuff the kids do like (common in sports) and I see pageants as more prone to that than most activities. And then people wonder why girls and women of an older age have all sorts of different disorders; from clinically diagnosable depression, to eating disorders and other forms of self harm (when I was younger self cutting was unheard of), to violence and crime, to substance abuse, and so on. Like, duh! |
