How were things in the past?

I've been using online CL forums for over 20 years now - while things were a lot more active in the past, as far as I can tell, I don't remember there really being any sort of cohesive movement, though maybe that was outside my circle. I just recall individual activists like Lindsay, but those people seem to have disappeared.
