Me? I was investigating "phreaking" (if I have the correct term) trying to build a device that made noises to make pay-phones release all their coins upon hearing particular tones. Needless to say, I never managed to make such a device.
You didn't have to make one. You just had to get your mom to buy Cap'n Crunch (not an easy task) so you could get the 2600Hz toy whistle. Or learn to whistle like Joe Engressia Jr. The article rings true for me. Young adults today can't tell their ass from their inodes. Trees are such an easy to visualize data structure, but just thinking about widows libraries or why they were introduced or how they can be useful makes my head hurt. That's really cool that you found someone willing to go the extra mile to get that floppy to you. |
