Lolita can be a problematic text and still have value. I still remember the first time I read it, the longing descriptions of Lolita. It was the first I'd ever read anything like it - it awakened in my mind the possibility that you can have these kinds of feelings about these girls, what they felt like, and how right they felt. In that sense it is a dangerous text, from the antis perspective. I wish there was a better character to represent our feelings that's as popular as Humbert is, but that doesn't mean Humbert can't show us truths about ourselves, without condoning everything he did. And Nabokov was a very gifted writer. Whatever anyone's suspicions about the author might be, we are blessed that he chose to write about this subject. Even if the account is not without flaw.
