Why is feminism?

What is the reason for its existence? Is it the result of that females are the lesser sex; or that females simply perceive themselves as the lessor gender, and that this false perception and true insecurity provokes the overreachingly disproportionate reaction in the form of feminism?

If woman are week, should not also their ideas and influence be?
