Where I take issue is when you (albeit indirectly) associate those gentle, well-meaning pedos who refuse to muzzle themselves with the exceptional few psychopaths or previously-well-meaning-but-ultimately-dissociated pedos who really do pose any sort of threat to young girls.
I mention those antisocial pedos as the minimum needed to make the points we have been discussing, but I draw a more conservative line. I am concerned about pedos who pass a basic "non-antisocial" bar--they would never do anything with a girl who is making clear her objections. There are those who are just not very sensitive to nonverbal cues. But I'm also concerned about sensitive pedos who with the best of intentions would form sexual relationships with willing girls. I think it is wrong for a man to let such a relationship form today. I am opposed to changing laws so a man could be confident there would be no adverse legal consequences. I think it's bad social policy, with a bad cost/benefit ratio. But I don't think such pedophiles are showing any signs of mental illness. I'm not interested in getting into why I hold those views in this thread -- we've been over this ground before -- but want to make clear what my position is. |
