Fairness vs. Justice.

On the other hand, Kevin, the inaction of law enforcement in your case and their willful blindness as to the vigilante activity *is* unfair in the context of what you are entitled to as a citizen under both the laws of your country and the social contract.

This has nothing to do with thinking that the world *should* be fair. It's about thinking that the government and associated agencies *must* live up to the trust we put in them. Justice is in all our best interests in a free and democratic society.

There's no point in railing against the injustice of the universe -- the universe just *is*. But society is what we make it, and we can *make* it live up to its claims of fairness.
