Not selfish

Suicide can seem selfish sometimes, but really, giving your life to protect others is usually considered unselfish suicide. Like when you jump on a grenade, take an arrow for someone, that sort of thing. In this case, the guy considered his own sexuality the grenade and did it at least partially out of fear of himself, fear probably not needed.

Who's feeding off people's grief?

A human life lost IS loss, regardless of whether you knew someone. In some cases, the death of a celebrity or a stranger can have more impact on you than someone you know dying, due to extreme familiarity or regard for a person, or sharing something in common with that stranger. The latter's the case, obviously. The guy's a working man, a contributor to society, so society loses something in losing him. We all have potential to better the world.

Pedophiles aren't vulnerable to suicide and self-harm any more than other kinds of outcasts I think... I guess sort of due to the whole 'Imma monster who gots to protect what I love from my love!' kinda thing, but that's moreso with people who are at war with themself, and not with people who gain acceptance. It makes me wonder if this guy's neighbour has ever seen any positive sites like GC. I really think it's good at preventing suicide by promoting understanding.

Perhaps that's why antis hate pro-pedo sites, since it interferes with their suicide war.
