I agree, there are hardly any 'normal' households in your or my country. What actually affects our psychological make-up and subsequent personalities etc. is I am sure not fully known yet, but we do know that our relationships with the primary care-givers (mostly parents), our siblings and the local environment do have effects on us, and especially when traumatic events occur during childhood. Unravelling what to some would be seen as trauma and to others as just part of growing-up is not easy. To one person, being sodomised might seem to be part of the natural school system and to have little effect, whilst to another it might lead to a loss of trust in others, a questioning of their sexual identity and gradual introversion. Parents as role models seems to have quite a lot to do with how we develop.
