Yes they use the word "vile," but I'll concede that one in exchange for saying "convicted of *having sex with*" instead of convicted of "abusing, molesting, blah blah... that's VERY significant, IMHO.
Also, the idea of an at least somewhat positive role is a big deal. Compare with Gene Hackman in "Under Suspicion." Hopefully the audience reaction will encourage additional portrayals of being human. Also, he's fighting these urges...I think the audience can take his side on that one: they don't want him to give in either, at least for the potential "victims'" sake, hopefully for his sake as well. If they don't botch it, this is a good thing. Student |
