Those who, according to your citation emphasize certain unimportant doctrines over the basics.
I generally tend to associate that class with the apocalyptic/eschatologically-focused believers; the one's who are so focused on reading the "end of times" into every event that they begin to think that everyone other than the "body of Christ" is the enemy, an anti-Christ.
(The body of Christ, naturally(in their fundamentalistic minds), being a Christian who claims to believe in divine Grace, but contradicting that belief by holding the whole world[themselves included, but to an exponentially lesser degree] under the Jewish laws and statutes.
They claim that following the Law[viz. "Torah" or Pentateuch] does not make a person righteous, and indeed that Jesus came to fulfill God's Law on the behalf of mankind, but then they turn around and condemn the whole world, "heathen, atheist, and 'brother in Christ'" when they don't live up to that very same Law.
In other words, they condemn homosexuals, fornicators, adulterors, astrologers, etc. for not keeping a Law which they claim is dead.
[Wow, that was a long parenthetical :D ])
Of course, I don't believe in those Parousia and apocalypse things anyway(with a scriptural basis, mind you) though...
(Btw, regardless of my rejection, I would still believe that the so-called "end of times" is a reletively unimportant thing :p)
type two
The faux-religious which you yourself describe as "nominal christians".
Those who invest so little stock into their own purported beliefs that they have to go to insane, "unconscionable" extremes to compensate.
These are people who don't know what they believe or why they believe it, and yet act, speak, and live as though they are high priest.
Therefore, I want to make this emphasis of my own: that Pat Robertson and "Falwell the Fat"(as Dr. Scott referred to him :) are not better examples of Christianity than those like Mother Theresa and Heidi Baker.
*shrug
But that's just my opinion.
Some people prefer to judge a thing by it's worst state rather than it's best.
The misopaedes wrongfully judge us by that standard when they lump us together with the likes of Alejandro Avila and John Couey.
I refuse to see the difference between such a lapse in judgment by critics of paedophilia and critics of religion.

This sure was a long post considering how late it is...
It'll probably be over-looked because of that, but that's fine: at least I was able to get this off my chest :p
