I think the trick is to find your online niche, become a well-liked and well-respected poster there, and then gradually drop your orientation on them. Our approach seems to be, go to the firsr forum we find and start yammering about legalizing sex with kids. That would put ANYONE off, even those who might otherwise be reasonable and tolerant of pedosexuals.
I've found my niche at an atheist forum, though admittedly I was one of those frontal assault people, as I didn't really expect to stay long, and I made my way to DU via a thread ABOUT pedophilia. I figured I'd be banned from Debates Unlimited sooner or later. But I was always rational and reasonable, and I've made friends there. I am well-liked by the DUers, and I can joke around with them about pedo issues to some extent. Of course, there will always be those who do not like me just because of my orientation, but they are few and pretty much remain silent on the matter at this point, and they either ignore me or do not treat me any differently than they do anyone else. I have earned the tolerance, if not necessarily the support, of most DUers. And I'm certain there are more than a few whose ideas about us have changed, though they aren't likely to admit it for fear of being judged themselves. Once the tension of that moral panic eases up, most people will relax, and that's when we can win them over. I've even posted some recent articled from GC on their board, and many DUers supported our perspective (e.g. the recent article on the Utah case of the two kids under 13 having sex with each other.) A few of them liked "The Coolest Little Kid in the World" or whatever that was called, with the little girl criticizing O'Reilly. |
