A CD came with the display, yeah? Generally there's some sort of software that comes with it that goes through a process of getting you to tell it at what levels colors and brightness/contrast look good to you. That's usually how you can fix the problem if a simple brightness/contrast change doesn't do the trick. Beyond that... I'd go checking the forums and user comments/ratings to see how other handled the problem. Unfortunately, one problem with a number of LCD screens is the "too bright" issue.
