I do agree that Todd has erred greatly in his judgement on this matter, but I would not call him a thief.

I also cringed when I saw him offering half the money to Demosthenes, but I regarded that as a non-serious offer, and considered it his anger talking.

But Todd has said that he has given the money to other charities which help children, and though I would like to have a better idea where the money went, that is the purpose for which I donated - so I would not consider that theft.
