Fact vs. Fiction

'NAMBLA, he says, "is actively training their members how to rape children and get away with it."'

Having been a member of NAMBLA since shortly after its organization, I can categorically deny that NAMBLA trains members to rape children. I never in any chapter meeting, or in any member's private home, heard anyone support rape in any sense with anyone. In fact, just the opposite was true. The men I associated with in NAMBLA were honorable men who would never force any child against his (or her) will.

"They distribute child pornography and trade live children among NAMBLA members with the purpose of having sex with them."

Absurd. I never once saw any "child pornography" in possession of any NAMBLA member. Of course, what some extremists call "child porn" may include any photo of any beautiful boy in the possession of any Boy Lover.

We certainly never did "trade live children among NAMBLA members with the purpose of having sex with them." What a ridiculous statement. Obviously a bold lie to discredit NAMBLA and its members. If anyone I knew in NAMBLA, and I knew several from different states, had even suggested such live trade he would have been immediately condemned by the others.

'Frisoli cites a NAMBLA publication he calls "The Rape and Escape Manual." Its actual title is "The Survival Manual: The Man's Guide to Staying Alive in Man-Boy Sexual Relationships."'

Hyperbole used in its worse sense to distort truth. By the author saying that Frisoli calls a NAMBLA publication "The Rape and Escape Manual" (notice the cute internal rhyme) he enforces in the minds of those already ready to condemn NAMBLA the negative image of rapists. The actual title given makes more sense, and if it is understood in context it is sensable, but by the time the reader gets to it he or she has fixed in their minds that NAMBLA is publishing a "Rape and Escape Manual." Its actual references are given as if supporting the article's author's viewpoint of NAMBLA being a rapist organization, when actually in a world filled with hate and death for any adult daring enough to love someone under some arbitrary and inane age of consent the contents of the "Man's Guide" make sense. "How to build relationships with children is of concern; we want to build healthy relationships, and some NAMBLA members (as some BC or GC members) had such warped lives before finding support that we had to ensure that their future relationships with boys were healthy and beneficial to the boy. "How to gain the confidence of children's parents" is not a bad thing. I preferably want to know the parents of my lovers; in fact, I even had two mothers in my NAMBLA days who told me "If my son is happy, I don't want to know." They, in effect, gave me and their son their blessing because they did know full well what our relationship was like. "Where to go to have sex with children so as not to get caught"--well, who the hell wants to "get caught" by some blood seeking, hangman's knot carrying radical right wing group? "There is advice, if one gets caught, on when to leave America and how to rip off credit card companies to get cash to finance your flight. It's pretty detailed." While I do not condone "rip[ping] off credit card companies" I do understand the necessity of perhaps having to flee for one's life. That is not a bad thing.

"The ACLU has offered material support to those who openly preach pedophilia and arguably encourage kidnapping, rape, and murder." Again, a distortion of the facts. We here who know the truth have often had to define terms, we have often had to defend against distortions. To use "pedophilia" and "encourage kidnapping, rape, and murder" in the same sentence, in the same context, would not be allowed by sane, rational people here and should not be accepted in this article. NAMBLA has never "encourage[d] kidnapping, rape, and murder." NAMBLA has always encouraged and supported healthy, consensual relationships between men and boys, relationships in which the boy finds love, compassion, and caring.

"An opinion piece with an opinion I can agree with, if what they say is true. If NAMBLA does offer that information then they should be held accountable. That is my opinion." That is a mighty BIG "if." And I can tell you that the "if" does not hold, it is not true that NAMBLA is the evil kingdom painted by the author. Too, it is difficult for me in this entire post to discern who is the author of the article and who is the author of the closing opinion. Are they one and the same. Are there no citations for the article?
