In the short-term maybe, but I don't think you can make that leap as a long-term projection. It tends to go up and down. There were significantly less executions in the 1970s and 1980s than there were in the 1990s and 2000s. On a side note, did you know that Islamic law allows girls as young as 9 and boys as young as 15 to be executed? I'm sure you did. That doesn't necessarily conform with national laws, but it's not like it's strongly enforced either. Why this huge discrepancy in age? And incidentally, the execution of juvenile offenders has actually risen in Iran over the last few years. Fuck Islamic law. Sideways. |
