Similarly, in efforts to identify the provenance of images of children being sexually abused, the U.S. government has sought the advice of botanists and ornithologists to identify locations based on background details skills similar to those the FBI and other agencies have used to identify individuals in ISIS videos
We were incorporating botany, geology et al in tracking terrorist networks in the lakes area a decade before the boston bombing. The fbi, otoh, has... mostly been facilitating terrorist activity. Major terror attack? Sorry, we were trying to see if people touch themselves in their basement. SSD? Dead. Civil rights division? Dead. FBI? Terror asset. Sorry, "terror asset which would take a decade or two for someone to say 'you know, you could just unswirl that.'" 'n yes, I know, he's canadian. Meanwhile, the fascinating operation is right there in plaintext. OTOH, well, I'm a bit concerned with a few of the pipelines. Sort of wierd to be stuck in a neutral fog between two organizations known for promoting terror, and known to "help each other out," including in violent attacks on the US (which would probably be fine if they weren't conducted by a bunch of jackasses - and no, I'm not sure which organization I'm criticising). Sigh. |
