There are very few possible responses to attempts at extortion. One is to cave. One is to smite the extorter - for trying to suggest that it is something less than awesome. 'n one is to simply report it.

You... don't want people capable of the first working for you, in most situations. Quite bluntly, it's not neccesarily a bad idea to know how your own reply to extortion attempts.

Meanwhile, I suppose I shouldn't be all that hard on the FBI. Rumor has it they did good work in Sochi, which sort of extended to the general region. It... still seems rather odd, however, to run a generation-long sting for a one-year sentence (or, admittedly, a capital offense when the term "organization in fact" is contemplated... which would also be pretty hard on the janitor).

But, the chechen passage is worth a lot. 'n hey, "a little birdy told me" has style, even if it is, y'know, a federal crime to harass people in violation of the whole privileges and immunities thing. Such as, I dunno, by percieved status.
