Request for participation in research

Posted by Tromovitch on Friday, July 25 2014 at 03:15:08AM

Greetings,

My name is Philip Tromovitch. Some readers of this board may recognize my name as the second author on the Rind et al. meta-analysis published back in 1998 that examined "CSA" and harm (finding that the association was small and might not be causal).

I am currently collecting data for a number of sexological and psychological studies. For one of them I want to learn about people who are primarily attracted to boys, girls, young men, and/or young women.

Thus, I am posting here to ask for your participation in my research. More details and information appear on the first page of the survey, but some key points are:
1) You will NOT be asked for your name, email address, or other identifying information;
2) The survey will take most people about 20 to 30 minutes to fill out;
3) The survey will NOT ask if you, as an adult, ever had sexual contact with a minor;
4) Your honest responses will help researchers understand you better.

Regarding (4), I know full well that Western society is using boy lovers and girl lovers as pariahs/scapegoats, and I want to produce real research that can help counter the existing pseudoscience and false assumptions. I would greatly appreciate your help, in the form of honest answers to the questions on the survey (incidentally, except for the question asking if you are male or female, you can skip any question that you do not want to answer; if you identify as intersex or transgendered, please indicate the sex that most closely matches the biological makeup you had when you were born).

I intend to collect data for approximately two weeks, or until I have collected 500 or more responses. The survey can be accessed at the URL below. Please fill out the survey when you are alone (since having someone sitting next to you can cause many people to provide biased answers, even to questions that are not sensitive or overly personal, and this can skew the results).

The survey can be accessed at:

Thank you in advance,
