Rene Clement died as recently as 1996, so this movie is not free domain yet.

But of course I know... I just don't know how to transfer my knowledge to you.

I think that if you have some money this film is already very cheap.

Of course there are other ways too, but hmm...

I really hold this film in very high regard. Might be the saddest film in the world, one sad scene after another, and all that classical guitar in the background. The deep, mournful music always begins when Paulette is in the picture. Makes me wonder if Rene Clement understood something about us.
