"i don't quite understand. ..you yourself are taking a strong position in the 'nature/nurture debate' when..."

I guess if I had to take a position on whether we're straight/paedo/gay/whatever-by-birth or if we become those things because of our experiences and upbringing, I would have to agree with the latter.
The side of 'becoming a paedo by life experiences' isn't tenuous though, and it's definitely not as difficult to argue pro-paedo while denying the paedo-by-birth stance as the paedo-by-birth crowd says it is.

Why, in Chat once, I over-heard one poster say something about how proving that paedophilia is something you're born into is the most efficient way of silencing the argument of "why don't paedophiles just change and be normal," and that that is why the person takes the by-birth stance.
Upon looking at the born-this-way view longer, I found it to be a gravely dishonest policy.

Not to mention how I didn't realize I was a paedophile until much later than most other posters here have reported, so it hits a personal note too.

"there really is no 'nature/nurture debate'"

What, have you been living under a rock?

"...nor is there much scope outside of genesis myths..."

Huh? I don't understand.
The injunction against homosexuality in the Bible doesn't come from cosmogony.

"...you make very good points...

Wait a sec...

Did you actually just say something that sounds like you're agreeing with me?
That's wierd, I must have waltzed into 'the Twilight Zone' :p

At any rate, I'm glad you thought the questions which were raised by my post were worth noting :)

"i would say i had no choice in my sexual orientation, i would not say i have no choice in how i live."

What an excellent statement! May I borrow it, please? :)
