the fantasy of the high-dopamine conversion?

I was listening to some people talk about how some women age worse than others, and how you'd be shallow to want to move on due to the deterioration in their outward appearance. This made me realize that I have indeed been in love before, and found it true that I was able to maintain some degree of attraction even as my partner aged. (Oh by the way, bonus points for me that she was quite a bit older than me.)

Then I was thinking about how on the daily, I'm really just a big fat hebe. The more honest I am with myself, the more exclusive my attraction seems. I think there's also a component of this where them being underage increases the excitement of the idea, and this might be the sort of thing that would concern modern society. There's also the notion of young girls (or boys) being the freshest, the newest. That is part of the appeal of youth. Not just that are untouched, but that they represent a clean slate.

In any event, the point of this post was to comment on that factor of the conversion from high-chemical whirlwind romance to strong, sturdy and settled committed relationship. I have always felt like I wanted that, and the notion that there's a fixed-aged attraction seems to, at face-value, contradict that notion. I wondered if others had experienced or observed the same pattern in themselves or others. When I think about people I like, I, not infrequently, fantasize of us being together, and I understand in those fantasizes, that they would get older. Perhaps the chemical high is so great that this really isn't a perception which I have with clear glasses, but cognitively, I feel like if I ever were able to "wait" for someone, that I'd want to convert that "pre-order" to a mature, adult-relationship. I suppose that keeps my spinning my wheels.
