That was not the idea

The idea is not to have a NEW chatroom, the idea is to close two of them and keep one of the three we have now. We don't need to learn Matrix or IRC or anything, the chats are fine as it is self-hosted as it should be, the problem is not spearheading it, the problem is to get three webmasters to agree on what two chatrooms close down and which one is going to be the official one for all three sites.
