Vigilante Group Trolled Into Outing Innocent Man

Interesting article. Didn't look to see if any other sources had more info, but note how the police do not offer the adult victim a public apology for such a horrible experience, and then note how the writer of the article does not even implicate the vigilante group by name (why THAT might get them online harrassment!), nor try to get any feedback from the victim they fingered. The focus of the article simply shifts to how police are now attempting to go after the person who took on the guy's identity to troll the vigilante group. Sorry, innocent dude. Just try to move on and forget about it!

Have heard these groups are more numerous and more fly-by-night than ever before, now loosely organized on social media by keyboard warriors and people looking for excitement from their boring lives, with no training, no common sense, and no brains. A great place for trolls to achieve much Win!

Society can thank the big TV networks for popularizing this gotcha crap over 20 years ago in order to make themselves an extra dollar of profit by televising it. You never hear how many adults have had their own lives ruined being falsely implicated for things they never did.

Now? Surprise! They can't seem to put that genie back in the bottle. These nitwit groups are going to get somebody innocent killed one day.
