'Member when Olympics didn't suck?

"NO!" say people under 40, "We don't!"

Somewhere, going all the way back to the Greeks, the entire purpose of the Olympics was to have nations WHO WERE EVEN AT POLITICAL ODDS, share in a friendly (or at least cordial) time of routing differences into competitive sport. The entire purpose was to have "something" that could be shared by many nations, in a sort of celebration of humanity where all the other differences could be put aside (at least in practice, if not the chest-pounding interpretations for their people back home). Once again though, we are banishing nations according to political differences, using these games in the opposite way of how they were intended.. to isolate and humiliate. It's not good. As such, it deserves plenty of continuing mockery and honest criticism in my view. Blahh!

So I finally give in. I tune in and it's the women's luge. Luge is short for Luger, so naturally the German chicks are killing it. I'm watching all these women from different countries trying to "get a leg up" so to speak, but the narrators are telling the viewers how the German women are just dominant at this sport.

Well gee, have you seen the thighs on those chicks? OF COURSE THEY ARE! They're about 30 pounds heavier than the other countries (my personal impression, autistics- please don't go looking for factual data to spoil this).

I watch the various competitors start their ice sprints, and the German ones have these GIANT thighs, these massive ham-hocks that jiggle like jello as these husky women gain speed.

And so I'm yelling back at the narrators like "HELLOOO??" Have you heard of GRAVITY? Of course these schlachtschiffs fed on sausages and beer are gonna go faster. What exactly is the big surprise here?

What I'm trying to say is, I didn't see where talent was really much of a factor.

I miss the days of all countries being allowed to compete. I especially miss our own fabled days up until somewhere in the 1990's, when little girl gymnastic competitors could show the big girls how much better they were, even the little girls from places I wasn't supposed to like.

And it's only gonna get worse summer '28: Los Angeles:(
