These are just two facets of a holistic attraction - physical/sexual and romantic/emotional. Some people have stronger physical libidos, and some people have thinner barriers to sociopathic, self-serving behaviors. If you're interest is PURELY physical, then there might be something missing. But the presence of a romantic component doesn't imply the absence of a physical component, and the presence of a physical component doesn't diminish the value of the romantic component. People just love to stereotype. As in, "pedophiles don't love children, they just use them as sex aids." That this is untrue is obvious to anyone with direct experience of the phenomena. Are there people out there who hurt kids in sexual ways? Absolutely. But they're the same people who hurt adults in sexual ways. The thing that's different about them isn't their interest in children, it's their willingness to hurt people in sexual ways, or just hurt people generally. Pedophiles are just like everybody else. They love the children they're attracted to just as much, on average, as anybody else loves the adults they're attracted to. Which is sometimes not at all, but usually quite a lot.
