With a single salty tear rolling gently down her flushed alabaster cheek, she nevertheless confided to us that she knows she was naughty yet again this year and probably will be next year. (I swear she must do it on purpose just for the firm hand of discipline she gets in the chat every year.)

We offered her a sympathetic seat after you left, but she looked down at the floor, folded her arms, and insisted that she'd prefer to stand.
