So I was somewhat briefly living in the midwestern US, once upon a time. The people I met had an effect on me. So many remembered interactions and stories, but none so lasting as Anne.
I was in my 20's at this time. Anne was still in her later teens. She had stringy shoulder-length blonde hair, and was obviously somewhaIt overweight. She was also somewhat naturally out-of-it, but I suspect there was some sort of pharma-help to assist her to be . I tend to feel sad about those things. Anne, as I later learned, had an unlikely penchant for throwing well-known badass parties, at her parents' very large home on the golf course. I was eventually invited to one of these, though I spent my time safely in the basement playing pool with others. I loved pool. I think I did this twice during parties above, actually. I received a Valentine's Day card from this highly curious girl once... It had a strange photo of a pig with wings, and seemed to notice my unwanted solitude. It said, Happy Valentine's Day Eeyore, from the sole member of the Lonely Hearts Club. I often wonder what jewels I missed. I was naive at the time, but I have looked back to her often, and have never forgotten her. |
