Love the music, the vibe. Truly. It totally reaches me below my usual radar. It sounds awesome. 14-year-old me would have NEVER asked questions of delivered feelings of personal bliss.
40 years hence: Lyrics seem a bit self-obsessed, but mmm, okay, still, whatever... Then I see their audience. Not a single ding-dong amongst them. That "OHHH..." moment hits me yet again. Girl bands must not be hetero anymore. Got it. You stop promoting said song, but still up the volume just a bit when nobody's around. Because it's still a cool vibe anywho. Might be doing it wrong, but have reached an age where songs, lawn signs, commercials, and most other stuff no longer influences my deeply-held beliefs. That stuff really isn't meant for people my age anyway. It's meant for the impressionables. It relies on young people's emotions dictating their own beliefs to them. And it mostly works. *Nevertheless, I still turn it up in my car, just for me. Shhh...* |
